IHSS Achieves ‘Carbon Measured’ Status as We Push Forward on Our Net Zero Journey

At IHSS, our mission to support safe, sustainable healthcare extends beyond surgical instruments – it reaches into every area of how we operate. We’re proud to announce that IHSS has officially received the ‘Carbon Measured’ smart badge from Climate Essentials, recognising our commitment to tracking and reducing carbon emissions across all our UK sites.

This badge is awarded to organisations who have completed a full year of emissions reporting via the Climate Essentials platform, covering Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions – a crucial step towards credible climate action.

Measuring What Matters

Using Climate Essentials, we’re now able to accurately measure our carbon footprint across:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions from on-site fuel and vehicles.
  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy.
  • Scope 3: All other indirect emissions, including logistics, procurement, and waste.

This comprehensive approach gives us a clear view of our environmental impact and ensures that any reductions we make are meaningful and measurable.

What’s Next for IHSS?

Our Green Team, aligned with Fresenius’ ESG goals, is already taking forward the next stages of our journey:

  • Measure and Monitor: Ongoing emissions tracking ensures we remain accountable and transparent.
  • Reduce Emissions: We’re using the Reduction Planner to develop targeted strategies across all sites.
  • Align with Net Zero: Our plans are mapped against science-based net-zero targets to ensure long-term sustainability.
  • Verification: We’re exploring Climate Essentials’ Verification Services to validate our progress with expert-backed certification.

Joining the Net Zero Community

Another exciting milestone: IHSS has also joined the Net Zero Community – an exclusive hub for Climate Essentials users to:

  • Share best practices and resources
  • Access expert-led webinars
  • Stay up to date on the latest sustainability developments

Participation gives us access to the ‘Net Zero Community’ badge, a symbol of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Driving Impact, Not Just Efficiency

We’re proud to take meaningful steps on the road to Net Zero. Our work to decarbonise operations reflects our broader responsibility to protect patients, staff, and the planet – now and in the future.

Let’s keep moving forward, together.
