At IHSS, we take pride in what we do best and have invested in the very latest decontamination and sterilisation technology for use on medical devices, that ensure an excellent service is delivered to all our customers.
We are compliant to National quality standards and as such conform to the requirements set out in the Medical Devices Directive 93/42 EEC through the application of BS EN ISO 13485:2016.
How we do this
All surgical and dental instruments received at our facilities are washed and decontaminated by fully automated machines validated and calibrated to manufacturer’s specifications, all in compliance with the Medical Devices Directive.
Our trained technicians clean and inspect each instrument against its predefined tray list that is received into our facilities before going through a wash cycle using PH neutral detergent.
These are then passed through to our ISO 14644 accredited controlled Cleanroom area which is used for Instrument Assembly and Packing (IAP). The air in the IAP room is positively pressurised and goes through 20 air cycles per hour to ensure the particulates in the air remain within the
required parameters.
Our steam sterilisers are self-checking, which means the sterility of every batch that passes through is guaranteed. The check is made by ensuring each batch reaches between 134-137 degrees Celsius and remains there for 3-3.5 minutes. Our low temperature sterilisers use the latest hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) technology.
In order to make sure all our equipment is maintained to their optimal level for the sterilisation process, all our washer disinfectors and sterilisers undergo a routine preventative maintenance programme.
At each stage of the decontamination and sterilisation cycle, all processes are logged into our Track & Trace system, so our customers can see a full audit and traceability trail throughout our facilities.
