Understanding IHSS’s Gender Pay Gap Report

IHSS is pleased to share our Gender Pay Gap Report for 2024/2025, providing insight into our ongoing commitment to fairness, inclusion and equality across our organisation.

So, why is understanding and addressing the gender pay gap so important?

The gender pay gap is different from unequal pay. Unequal pay means paying men and women differently for doing the same or equivalent work, which is unlawful. The gender pay gap, however, looks at the difference in average earnings between men and women across an organisation.

This gap can be influenced by a range of factors, including the types of roles held by men and women, levels of representation in senior positions, working patterns, and wider structural challenges that can affect career progression.

Addressing the gender pay gap is not only the right thing to do – it also supports a stronger, fairer and more inclusive workplace. When people have equal opportunities to develop, progress and succeed, organisations benefit from greater engagement, stronger retention, broader perspectives and a more positive working culture.

At IHSS, we are committed to creating an environment where all colleagues feel respected, supported and able to thrive. Our Gender Pay Gap Report 2024/2025 sets out our current position, highlights the progress we continue to make, and reinforces the actions we are taking to support meaningful and lasting improvement.

Together, we are continuing to build a workplace where fairness, opportunity and inclusion are at the heart of how we work.
